Pahvo, discovered by the Vulcans in the 21st century, contains a transmitter which sends the planet’s sounds into space. Each vibration, or the tiniest motion of every living organism on its surface, is represented by a single note. Those notes are combined into music. The origin of the transmitter was unknown.
During the 23rd century, a crew from the U.S.S. Discovery crew – First Officer Saru, Lt. Ash Tyler and Science Specialist Michael Burnham – beamed down to what they believed was uninhabited planet to re-program the transmitter to emit electromagnetic waves that could detect and isolate Klingon ships hidden behind their invisibility screens.
