TNG 25th Anniversary Movie Event... TONIGHT!

So, what are YOU doing tonight? If you’re a Star Trek fan, hopefully you’ll be out this evening – at a movie theater somewhere around this big blue marble of ours – attending Star Trek: The Next Generation 25th Anniversary Event, the one-night-only, in-theater experience that will herald the arrival tomorrow of Star Trek: The Next Generation – Season One on Blu-ray.

The Star Trek: The Next Generation 25th Anniversary Event will be presented by NCM Fathom Events, CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Media Distribution, and it will feature the popular TNG episodes “Where No One Has Gone Before” and “Datalore,” chosen by longtime Trek experts Mike and Denise Okuda.

“Where No One Has Gone Before” first aired on October 26, 1987, and it finds the Enterprise thrown millions of light years in one direction and then a billion light years in another direction, leaving Wesley Crusher (Wil Wheaton) and the Traveler (Eric Menyuk) to save the day. The FX-heavy hour marked the first of many TNG episodes directed by Rob Bowman. In fact, Bowman also directed “Datalore,” in which Data (Brent Spiner) makes the acquaintance of his “brother,” Lore (also Spiner), with Lore temporarily assuming his brother’s identity. The teleplay for this episode, which premiered on January 18, 1988, was penned by Robert Lewin and Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry.

In addition to the two first-season TNG episodes, those attending Star Trek: The Next Generation 25th Anniversary Event will see bits of the Star Trek: The Next Generation – Season One Blu-ray special features and even some footage not on the Blu-ray. Fans can also expect to see an extended preview of Star Trek: The Next Generation – Season Two, which will be released later this year on Blu-ray.
