Zoe Saldana, who is currently reprising her role as Star Trek's current Uhura in Star Trek Beyond, is in the news with reports about two other projects. First, Nina, which casts her as singer and civil rights activist Nina Simone, at long last has a release date. And, she's just signed on for her next project, I Kill Giants.

Nina will be released in December by RLJ Entertainment. The film co-stars David Oyelowo. Meanwhile, I Kill Giants is an upcoming adaptation of Joe Kelly’s graphic novel that will be produced by Chris Columbus and directed by Anders Walter, who won an Oscar for his short Helium. According to The Hollywood Reporter, I Kill Giants tells the story of a young misfit girl named Barbara (Madison Wolfe) battling both real and imaginary monsters in her life. Saldana is set for the role of a school psychologist who helps Barbara face both internal and external threats, forming an inspiring bond with her in the process.
