Star Trek Online’s latest major update, Rise of Discovery, is now live, and Lead Designer Al Rivera will answer fan questions today. Rivera will be joined by Lead Ship and UI Artist Thomas Marrone, who will talk about the latest ships to join the game, the Klingon Cleave ship and the Section 31 Stealth Ship. It all happens this afternoon at 4pm PST via the Star Trek Online stream; you can watch right here on StarTrek.com, too, in the window below.
Jason Isaacs and Rekha Sharma return to their respective Star Trek: Discovery roles as the voices of Captain Gabriel Lorca and Commander Ellen Landry for Rise of Discovery. The game’s two new episodes let STO players embark on missions featuring Lorca and Landry, battle alongside the U.S.S. Buran, and learn what happened to Lorca and Landry in advance of their assignments to the U.S.S. Discovery. More specifically, players answer a distress call from the Federation starship after it sustains heavy damage from Klingon forces, led by J’Ula, matriarch of House Mo’Kai. The attack leaves its sole survivor, Lorca, stranded on a desolate ice moon littered with Klingon search parties. His fate now lies in the hands of Star Trek Online players, who must team up with Landry to secure his survival.
Rise of Discovery also delivers a fresh Tier 6 reputation entitled Discovery Legends, which allows players to earn Discovery-themed rewards by completing Task Force Operations. All of Star Trek Online’s Tier 6 starships have been converted to player level-less scaling, giving every captain – regardless of experience – access to these powerful vessels at any time. Further game feature details will be revealed upon launch.
