Benedict Cumberbatch so often plays serious characters -- Khan, Sherlock Holmes, Smaug, Julian Assange -- that it's a breath of fresh air to see him having some fun in a brand-new promo segment that connects Sherlock and Sesame Street, both of which air on PBS in the United States. In the spot, which runs almost two and a half minutes and is titled "Benedict Cumberbatch and the Sign of Four (or is it Three?)," Cumberbatch turns to his friend Count Von Count to solve a perplexing, brain-bending challenge from the very furry Murray, or, as he calls himself, Murray-arty, who mistakes Cumberbatch for Holmes.
PBS credits their associates at MASTERPIECE and Sesame Workshop for their help with the video, and Star Trek fans everywhere are probably pretty thankful -- and amused -- too.
