George Takei will be joining some mighty fine company, including Rosa Parks, Kurt Vonnegut, Carl Sagan, Julian Bond, Sister Helen Prejean, Howard Zinn, Sen. Edward Kennedy, Congressman John Lewis and Harry Belafonte. That's to say that the beloved Star Trek actor and activist will receive the ACLU of Massachusetts’ 2015 Roger Baldwin Award—named after the ACLU’s founder—for his courage and commitment to the principles of liberty and justice for all.
The 2015 award presentation will be held on May 21 at the Westin Copley Place Hotel in Boston during the ACLU of Massachusetts’ 34th annual Bill of Rights Dinner. The annual events gathers together hundreds of authors, attorneys, activists and others to celebrate their honoree and the onging quest for freedom that is at the core of the ACLU’s efforts.
Please join StarTrek.com in congratulating Takei on his upcoming honor.
