If you were at the movies the past couple of weeks, chances are you saw the trailer not just for Star Trek Beyond, but also for an animated feature called Kubo and the Two Strings. As the trailer unfolded, the names of its stellar voice cast were revealed: Charlize Theron, Ralph Fiennes, Rooney Mara, George Takei and Matthew McConaughey. We’re not sure when and how Takei snuck this one in, but he did. In fact, Star Trek’s fan-favorite Sulu seems to be ubiquitous. Not only is Kubo and the Two Strings on the way, but he’s still starring in the Broadway musical Allegiance and, just a couple of weeks ago, he wrote an op-ed feature for USA Today.

Kubo and the Two Strings marks the directorial debut of Coraline, ParaNorman and The Boxtrolls lead animator Travis Knight. The film will be released August 19, 2016.
