Patrick Stewart, during a recent interview with HuffPost Live while promoting his new series Blunt Talk, asserted his opinion that politicians could learn a thing or two about being a role model for modern youth from Captain Jean-Luc Picard, his honorable Star Trek: The Next Generation character.

"I wish that politicians would spend more time watching Star Trek: The Next Generation," Stewart said, "because unlike my predecessor, Captain James T. Kirk, Jean-Luc Picard believed first and foremost in negotiation," Stewart said. "He was a diplomat before he was a warrior -- talk, talk, talk and keep on talking. And I think that would be a great message for the world to absorb because people don't have to die to achieve a satisfactory solution to anything."

Anything?

"Yes," Stewart replied. "I do believe that. I believe that we reach for the weapons far too quickly."
