StarTrek.com is saddened to report the passing of Marvin Paige, a veteran film and television casting director who counted among his many credits Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Paige, who was reportedly in his 80s, died yesterday from injuries sustained in a car accident last month in Los Angeles.

In addition to Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Paige cast such projects as General Hospital, the Woody Allen films Take the Money and Run and Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex (But Were Afraid to Ask), Lassie, Combat!, the Planet of the Apes television series (which co-starred Mark Lenard, Trek's Sarek) and more. Upon exiting the casting business, he founded Marvin Paige's Motion Picture & TV Research Archive, a Hollywood and movie history research facility that offers stills, movie posters and film-related rare magazines for documentaries and DVD extras.

StarTrek.com offers our condolences to Paige's family, friends and colleagues.
