The Perth Mint of Australia has just released a new, limited-edition two-coin silver set celebrating Star Trek: Discovery.
One coin features Sonequa Martin-Green -- the first African American female lead in the franchise’s 50-plus year history -- as First Officer Michael Burnham.
The second coin depicts Burnham’s ship, the U.S.S. Discovery NCC-1031. The intergalactic design features the famous delta shield insignia surrounded by the white olive branches of the United Federation of Planets logo.
The Discovery release is the last of the Perth Mint’s Captain and Ship Two-Coin sets, all of which sold out. Only 1,500 of the highly anticipated Discovery two-coin set – priced at $249 each -- will be released worldwide. Both coins are presented in novel, light-up "Transporter" style packaging, accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
