IDW is working overtime on Star Trek titles, and we've got a First Look at their upcoming January books, Star Trek #5 and Star Trek/Legion of Superheroes #4. Star Trek (2009) writer-producer Roberto Orci has overseen Star Trek #5, which is by Mike Johnson, with art by Joe Corroney and a cover by Tim Bradstreet. The story follows the new Enterprise crew in a retelling of the TOS story "Operation: Annihilate!," as Kirk encounters the ghosts of his past, including his brother, while leading the crew on a rescue mission. Variants will include a Bradstreet sketch cover, a photo cover and Starfleet Academy logo temporary tattoos.

Meanwhile, Star Trek/Legion of Superheroes #4 will continue IDW/DC Comics' first-ever Star Trek and Legion of Superheroes crossover adventure. The story -- with art by Jeffrey and Philip Moy and covers by Phil Jimenez and Chris Sprouse -- tracks Starfleet's officers and several Legionnaires as they take the next steps in their effort to return to their respective timelines. One team, comprised of members from both groups, ventures to the Imperial Planets of Earth, while the other team, also comprised of members from both groups, jumps back in time to determine what happened to their respective histories and how/why the blended timeline occurred. Variants will include a Gabriel Rodriguez cover.

Each of the titles will run 32 pages and be priced at $3.99 each. Likewise, both titles will be available at comic retail stores.
