Jordan Hoffman pays tribute to the late Anton Yelchin and also welcomes Robb Pearlman, the author of Redshirt's Little Book of Doom, Fun with Kirk and Spock, and The Wit and Wisdom of Star Trek, on this week's episode of Engage: The Official Star Trek Podcast, available today.
"It's an unusual episode," Hoffman told StarTrek.com. "Robb Pearlman is a funny guy and we have a lot of laughs, but I also recorded a separate segment that's just me talking about Anton Yelchin. His death was a total shock to everyone. He was just 27 years old. So I discuss his performances as Chekov in the new Star Trek and also his work in other films. He started so young as an actor that he's left behind a lot of good performances.
"So far as Robb Pearlman, have you read Redshirt's Little Book of Doom?" Hoffman asked rhetorically. "It's very, very funny. We talk about his process, how his ideas come to him and how he gets them from his head to the page. We also chat about our favorite redshirts from The Original Series. So, the part of the episode with Robb, it's a good 45 minutes of schmooze."
