"Trekkies 2," the sequel to the popular fan documentary "Trekkies," is out now, courtesy of Paramount Home Entertainment. As the producers of the movie have kindly provided STARTREK.COM with some of the deleted material that appeares on the DVD, we have included some of the footage here for you to preview.
The original "Trekkies" was an entertaining documentary that both admired and poked a little fun at certain Star Trek fans whose love of the franchise carried over perhaps a little too much into their personal lives. The general feeling towards "Trekkies" was that, as fandom goes, one could argue that Trek fans are no more or less obsessive than some sports or entertainment fans. They merely choose to express their association in some clever and unique ways.
"Trekkies 2" certainly redresses any misconceptions about Trek fandom that the first movie may have inspired. Not only do we get to see Trek fans from around the world, but we get a more sympathetic look at their lives and what the show means to them. One thing you can say about Star Trek is that it provides plenty of inspiration for its fans to be creative. The very heart of Star Trek is about tolerance, creativity, and looking at the world around you with sympathetic eyes. "Trekkies 2" certainly offers yet another perspective into this world.
We hope you enjoy "Trekkies 2" as well as these clips!
