How to participate:
Get ready for the next chapter of Star Trek excitement with STARTREK.COM's Star Trek Book Club! On the last Tuesday of every month, gather online in our event chat room with special guests and other fans to discuss Star Trek titles. Our next event is taking place on Tuesday, July 27 at 11:00 a.m. PDT. It's the only official Star Trek Book Club on the Web and it's only at STARTREK.COM.
The Star Trek Book Club provides online chat events with authors, fans and Star Trek celebrities, plus in-depth information about a given month's featured book including how to purchase the book online.
The next Featured Book for The Star Trek Book Club will be "The Case of the Colonist's Corpse" by Bob Ingersoll and Tony Isabella. Isabella wrote the "Star Trek: Other Realities" graphic novel and both he and Ingersoll have previously collaborated on the Captain America novel "Liberty's Torch."
"The Case of the Colonist's Corpse" is a murder mystery told in the grand style of the old Perry Mason/Ellery Queen books. The cover lists the book as "A Sam Cogley Mystery," giving fans a hint as to the book's protagonist — the eccentric and delightful defense attorney Sam Cogley, who defended James T. Kirk in the Original Series episode "Court Martial."
The novel mostly takes place on Anaher II, a planet being colonized by both Humans and Klingons in the wake of the Organian Peace Treaty. When the Federation Colony's Administrator turns up dead with his Klingon counterpart standing over him with a discharged phaser, it seems like an open-and-shut case. However, when Cogley and his team are assigned to defend the suspect, they find there's more to this case than meets the eye.
We look forward to seeing you a the Club's next event at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2004, with an online chat with author Bob Ingersoll. Fans can log in and chat with him about "The Case of the Colonist's Corpse" and other projects in the works. Fans can also get ready for the event by purchasing a copy of "The Case of the Colonist's Corpse," (alternatively available in eBook form via the Simon & Schuster site below) and can also send advance questions to the guests now at bookclub@startrek.com.
