The two-disc set of this classic Star Trek movie comes packed with extras. Although there are no deleted scenes — by virtue of a tight script with little room to breathe — there are plenty of other extras to flesh out the eighth movie in the Trek franchise.
Disc 1
The feature, presented in widescreen, is enhanced for 16:9 TVs. (The Original aspect ratio is 2.35:1.) Sound is Dolby Digital English 5.1, English and French Dolby Surround and English DTS Surround. The film is subtitled in English for the deaf and hearing impaired.
Jerry Goldsmith: A Tribute: This feature honors the legacy of one of the screen's greatest composers and his many contributions to the Star Trek legacy. Includes interviews with Goldsmith and others, plus details of his famous compositions.
The Legacy of Zefram Cochrane: The fabled scientist who invented warp drive capability is highlighted in this segment that examines the first appearance of Cochrane in the Original Series, dissects his character in the feature film, and shows his appearance in the pilot of Enterprise.
First Contact: The Possibilities: Using the film's theme of making "first contact" with life beyond Earth, the real search for E.T.'s is examined.
