IMPORTANT RELEASE INFORMATION
Update: The DVD is now scheduled for a September 28, 2004 release.
Due to a typographical error on the "Star Trek Generations" Special Collector's Edition DVD packaging that inadvertently notes a teaser and theatrical trailer that are not on the DVD, the product has been recalled. The original release date of September 7 has now been pushed back to Sept. 28.
Paramount Home Entertainment has revealed the contents of the first Special Collector's Edition DVD from the Star Trek:The Next Generation era, "Star Trek Generations."
The double-disc set will contain numerous tantalizing bonus features. The first disc will contain the widescreen version of the movie (enhanced for 16:9 TVs, with sound in Dolby 5.1 Surround EX) available with audio commentary from screenwriters Brannon Braga and Ronald D. Moore, plus text commentary from Mike Okuda and Denise Okuda.
Disc 2 offers a nice treasure chest of items, including deleted scenes that fans have been clamoring for since "Generations" first came out in the cinemas. For example, there was a famous scene featuring Captain Kirk performing orbital skydiving that was shot for the opening of the movie but was eventually cut. Early publicity stills from the movie, along with descriptions in the novelization, featured this scene and only served to whet the appetites of those wanting to see more. And now we will!
