Get ready for the next chapter of Star Trek excitement with STARTREK.COM's Star Trek Book Club! On the last Tuesday of every month, gather online in our event chat room with special guests and other fans to discuss Star Trek titles. Our next event is taking place on Tuesday, February 24 at 3:00 p.m. PST/6:00 p.m. EST. It's the only official Star Trek Book Club on the Web and it's only at STARTREK.COM.
The Star Trek universe spans five television series, ten movies and an animated series, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Hundreds of Star Trek books have been published over the decades, both fiction and non-fiction, making Star Trek not just a film and television phenomenon but a publishing one as well.
The Star Trek Book Club will be an area in STARTREK.COM's Community section dedicated to Star Trek book fans with a new book featured each month. The Club will provide online chat events with authors, fans and Star Trek celebrities, plus in-depth information about a given month's featured book including how to purchase the book online.
The next Featured Book for The Star Trek Book Club will be "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine ? Unity," by S.D. Perry, the author of the DS9 "Avatar" books, the Section 31 novel "Cloak," and another DS9 novel, "Rising Son."
"Star Trek: Deep Space Nine ? Unity" continues the Star Trek saga in print as it unfolds in the post-series finale, covering events after the Dominion War concluded in "What You Leave Behind." A number of books have been published in the wake of DS9's conclusion, and lest any fans get lost amidst the swirl of events, Perry begins "Unity" with a chronological timeline to help readers catch up and jump right in. With a number of new characters mixed in with familiar characters like Kira, Bashir, Ezri Dax, Quark, Ro Laren, Odo, Jake Sisko, Nog and others, DS9 fans and Star Trek fans new to the series alike have plenty to enjoy in the pages of "Unity."
The Club's next event will take place February 24, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. PST/6:00 p.m. EST, with an online chat with author Perry along with Simon & Schuster Star Trek editor Marco Palmieri. Fans can log in and chat with the author about "Unity" and her other Star Trek novels. Fans can get ready for the event by purchasing a copy of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine ? Unity," (also available in eBook form) and can also send advance questions to the guests now at bookclub@startrek.com.
