Get ready for a new chapter of Star Trek excitement with STARTREK.COM's Star Trek Book Club! On the last Tuesday of every month, gather online in our event chat room with special guests and other fans to discuss Star Trek titles. Our next event is taking place on Tuesday, January 27 at 3:00 p.m. PST/6:00 p.m. EST. It's the only official Star Trek Book Club on the Web and it's only at STARTREK.COM.
The Star Trek universe spans five television series, ten movies and an animated series, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Hundreds of Star Trek books have been published over the decades, both fiction and non-fiction, making Star Trek not just a film and television phenomenon but a publishing one as well.
The Star Trek Book Club takes place within STARTREK.COM's Community section dedicated to Star Trek book fans with a new book featured each month. The Club will provide online chat events with authors, fans and Star Trek celebrities, in-depth information about a given month's featured book including how to purchase the book online, plus a poll for fans to help us choose the next featured book.
The next Featured Book for The Star Trek Book Club will be "I.K.S. Gorkon Book One: A Good Day to Die," by Keith R.A. DeCandido, the author of "The Art of the Impossible: The Lost Era 2328-2346" and a number of the Starfleet Corps of Engineers eBooks (included in the collections "Have Tech Will Travel" and "Some Assembly Required").
"I.K.S. Gorkon Book One: A Good Day to Die" kicks off a new series of books that promises to turn the typical Star Trek story on its ear. These are the voyages of the Klingon Defense Force vessel I.K.S. Gorkon and its mission to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations and to conquer them for the Klingon Empire!
The Club's next event will take place January 27, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. PST/6:00 p.m. EST, with an online chat with author DeCandido. Fans can log in and chat with the author about the book and the I.K.S. Gorkon series. Fans can get ready for the event by purchasing a copy of "I.K.S. Gorkon Book One: A Good Day to Die," (also available in eBook form) and can also send advance questions to the guests now at bookclub@startrek.com.
