Over the years I've seen all kinds of Star Trek products. But if I had been asked to come up with an idea for a completely original product, I don't think I would ever have come up with this one: Origami starships! Sheer points for originality here, Pocket Books.
By the way, I would love to have seen the pitch for this book: "No, really, it's a book on how to make paper starships ... anyone can do it! Here, let me demonstrate [sound of much folding] Presto! What do you mean what is it? It's a Klingon Bird-of-Prey!"
However it was pitched, author Andrew Pang of Hong Kong was successful in selling the concept. And the amazing thing is there are 16 different ships just waiting to be origami-ized. As an added bonus the book comes with ten sheets of paper to help get you started.
Origami may be an ancient art, but that doesn't mean YOU can't do it. Just follow the simple folding steps and you soon will be "piloting" your own ship. Note: These ships do not fly of their own accord. We recommend you suspend them using wire or string, or mount them on the origami bases as detailed in the book. Here's a handy household hint: Just what are you going to decorate that tree with this holiday season?
For the person who, literally, has everything. Boldly fold!
