For delving deep into a TV series — any TV series — you would have to look pretty hard to find a book this loaded with information.

Terry J. Erdmann and Paula M. Block have done an exquisite job of introducing each season and providing all the relevant background information on the show as it evolved over the seven years. Each episode then has a detailed synopsis, followed by comments from cast and crew who worked on that episode. What the book lacks in informational appendixes it more than makes up for in the overall content. Not to be read in one, or even two, sittings, it's the perfect "Companion" nonetheless.

Enjoy it for what it is, your guide to one of the best of the Star Trek shows. [Tim]
