The Fan Collective DVD releases have been a big hit, as witnessed by the "Time Travel," "Q," "Klingon" and "Borg" sets, and now it's time for the Captains to have their day. With "Captain's Log" the best episodes revolving around each series' star, as chosen by fans, will debut in stores on July 24. What makes this set special, however, is that it also includes five episodes chosen by the legendary captains themselves: Kirk (William Shatner), Picard (Patrick Stewart), Sisko (Avery Brooks), Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) and Archer (Scott Bakula). [O.K., chosen by the actors, but who's quibbling?-Ed.]

Across five discs, the collection includes 15 episodes taken from the Original Series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Enterprise, along with an introduction to the collection by William Shatner, plus selected episode introductions by each captain, as well as interviews compiled into segments such as "What Makes a Good Captain?,” "The Importance of 'The Captain's Log',” "Captain Kirk's Legacy” and much more.
