There have been many phaser replicas over the years, but nothing like this.
Renowned propmaker and effects artist John Long has created the first fully licensed assembly kit for the Original Series type-1 hand phaser. This replica is not a toy or an idealized vision of what a Starfleet weapon might look like, but an exacting re-creation of the actual studio prop from the '60s, right down to the materials used to create it.
From the hand-laminated fiberglass shell to the almost mythical internal mechanisms, this limited-edition collectors kit gives you period materials and expert instructions to create a working replica, with complete moving parts and an acrylic emitter light. It is based on the only known existing "hero" phaser (the one used for close-ups in the show), faithfully crafted down to the smallest detail.
If you love the look and the feel of the original hand phaser, this kit is the perfect way to commemorate Trek's 40th anniversary.
The limited-edition kit is available for pre-order now, with a street date of August 14, at the Star Trek Store. (See link below.) Each kit comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity signed by John Long.
