The fans spoke, Paramount listened, and now the Home Entertainment division is set to deliver the third of their four scheduled "Fan Collectives." These DVD sets — compiled around certain characters, themes or races — are proving to be popular indeed. As they should be, since they were voted on by the fans, for the fans! The next Collective, "Q," promises to be a lot of fun as it focuses on one of
Star Trek's most popular characters, the nearly-omnipotent
Q himself!
John de Lancie established this memorable character from the very first episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation right on through to Voyager with a stop at Deep Space Nine along the way. Now, as voted by 20,000 fans here on STARTREK.COM, Q returns in all his glory for viewers to enjoy with one complete box set that features all 12 of his appearances on Star Trek.
Available on June 6, 2006 (or 6/6/06 -- ah, that Q is a devilish one!), the set also includes three text commentaries by Michael and Denise Okuda (see below for episodes).
The "Q" set is priced to own at around $42.99 SRP (standard retail price) in the U.S. and C$39.99 SRP in Canada. The DVD set features Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround and English 2.0 Surround with English subtitles. The episodes are presented in their original Full Screen format. The set is unrated in the U.S. and rated PG in Canada. Total DVD runtime is 10 hours and 36 minutes.
