Thirty years ago, Star Trek returned to television after its 1969 cancellation as a Saturday morning animated series. This lesser-known chapter in Star Trek history is being commemorated with a whole new set of trading cards from Scifihobby.com.

The Complete Star Trek: Animated Adventures Trading Cards is the first full series of cards dedicated to the animated series, which aired in 1973-74. This 198 card series covers all 22 episodes, with nine cards per episode printed on 20 point stock with high "wet" gloss UV coating.

In addition to the regular cards, there are additional special or "chase" cards which will expand on the base set. First is a James Doohan Tribute card, which features all of the many characters that Doohan provided voices for during the Animated Adventures (both Doohan and Nichelle Nichols voiced multiple characters). The James Doohan Tribute card can be found in one of every four packs.

Next is the The Enterprise Bridge Crew, with one in every eight packs. And sure to be popular are the Captain Kirk IN MOTION™ lenticular cards — there's one in every 20 packs. The most unique chase card will be the Star Trek Micro-Cels, featuring authentic pieces of film. There are 22 different cards, one for each episode and each card will contain two unique pieces of actual series film. No two cards will be exactly alike and fans will find two of these cards in the 40-pack count boxes.

And since many Trek fans treasure the John Hancocks of their favorite stars, authentic hand-signed autograph cards are also included, one per box. There are autographs cards for William Shatner ("James T. Kirk"), Leonard Nimoy ("Spock"), Nichelle Nichols ("Uhura"), Majel Barrett ("Christine Chapel"), James Doohan ("Montgomery Scott"), George Takei ("Hikaru Sulu") and more.

Collectors will also have the opportunity to win original production cels used in the making of the Animated Adventures as well as limited edition sericels. "Instant Winner Cards" are also mixed in, giving the lucky winner one of 50 different original production cels used in the making of the Animated Adventures, each unique with an image of the cel that the lucky cardholder wins. There are also Instant Winner Cards to win one of 250 sericels featuring the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 or one of 250 sericels featuring Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock.

As an added bonus, each box will have one of five unique die-cut shaped CD-ROMS featuring exclusive Star Trek: Animated content, including screen savers, wall papers, history of the show and an exclusive interview with Dorothy "D.C." Fontana. These CD-ROMS will not be available anywhere else.
