Author Marc Scott Zicree, credited for the stories for the
Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "
First Contact" (teleplay by Dennis Russell Bailey, David Bischoff,
Joe Menosky and
Ronald D. Moore) and the
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "
Far Beyond the Stars" (teleplay by
Ira Steven Behr and
Hans Beimler) has co-written the novel "Magic Time," available in stores now.
Written with Barbara Hambly, whose credits include the Star Trek novels "Ishmael," "Ghost Walker" and "Crossroad," "Magic Time" is the first of a trilogy, with subsequent books scheduled for annual release.
Another Star Trek connection will be coming when the book is released in Audio Book form, as Armin Shimerman ("Quark") is scheduled to read the book unabridged for the audio version.
The fantasy novel is publisher HarperCollins sole science fiction/fantasy release for the holiday season, and has been named one of Barnes and Noble's Best Books of the Year.
The novel has received a jacket quote from Enterprise Co-Creator and Executive Producer Brannon Braga, who raves, "Magic Time is a great book! A bold and original science fantasy that, by the end, creates a brand new genre all its own. Epic, believable and very, very cool. When's the movie coming out?"
"Magic Time" tells the story of a young lawyer trapped in a world gone mad as power goes out in his city, and people are changing into something dark and terrifying. Along with other characters he'll meet, he has to confront a world unlike anything they've ever known.
Zicree has also written "The Twilight Zone Companion," as well as working on many other television and film projects, including the series Beauty and the Beast, Babylon 5 and Sliders.
