The versatile and prolific Hollywood veteran Bruce Greenwood was born August 12, 1956 in Noranda, Quebec, Canada. Living in a family that frequently moved, Greenwood bounced between the United States and Canada for much of his youth.
His first big acting break came in 1982 when he landed a walk-on role in the Sylvester Stallone movie "First Blood." Moving between television and movies, Greenwood has seen a wide variety of roles in both mediums. TV viewers will recognize Greenwood from shows such as St. Elsewhere, Nowhere Man, Knots Landing, The Larry Sanders Show, and the recently cancelled HBO show John From Cincinnatti.
His movie roles include "Passenger 57," "The Sweet Hereafter," "Double Jeopardy," "Rules of Engagement," "Thirteen Days," "I, Robot," "The Core," "Eight Below," and "Capote." Most recently, Greenwood can be seen in the quirky Bob Dylan biopic "I'm Not There." Later in 2007 Greenwood will be seen in the "National Treasure" sequel, "Book of Secrets," playing the U.S. President.
An avid outdoorsman, Greenwood cites skiing, hiking and golf as some of his favorite activities. Married to Susan Devlin since 1985, the Greenwoods have one son.
Greenwood becomes the third actor to play
Christopher Pike, following on from Jeffrey Hunter and Sean Kenney, as seen in "
