Zachary Quinto, best known to genre fans for his portrayal of Sylar, the enigmatic superpowered serial killer on the hit television series
Heroes, has just been tapped to play the young
Spock in the
upcoming eleventh Star Trek film.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Quinto attended Central Catholic High School, where he received the Gene Kelly Award for his role as Major-General in Pirates of Penzance. In 1999, he graduated from Carnegie Mellon University's Carnegie Mellon School of Drama and immediately launched into his acting career, making his television debut in the series The Others.
Quinto's other credits include roles in the television series So noTORIous, Crossing Jordan, Joan of Arcadia, Charmed, Lizzie McGuire, Dragnet and Touched by an Angel, along with a memorable recurring role on the third season of 24.
In a recent interview, Quinto remarked that his dream role would be the young Spock in a Star Trek movie. Looks like his dream has come true!
