The seventh movie based on Star Trek featured an appearance from William Shatner, along with two other Original Series cast members (Walter Koenig and James Doohan), but, more importantly, it marked the debut of the Next Generation crew on the big screen. The double-disc set contains numerous tantalizing bonus features, including some famous deleted scenes. For example, there was a famous scene featuring Captain Kirk performing orbital skydiving that was shot for the opening of the movie but was eventually cut. Early publicity stills from the movie, along with descriptions in the novelization, featured this scene and only served to whet the appetites of those wanting to see more.
