It's that time of year again! We can all appreciate a good fireworks show, and for good fireworks you can hardly beat the ones that take place in space. Starships blowing up periodically, planets exploding and other blazing spectacles of galactic drama provide us with many memorable images, similar to a good fireworks display.
So, in the spirit of the season, we take a look at some of the visual effects wizardry of Star Trek set to the exuberant strains of Piotr Tchaikovsky's famous "1812 Overture" (Op. 49, for those keeping score at home.)
