While the rest of the world tries to make sense of the devastation throughout Southern Asia following the December 26 earthquake and tsunami, the people caught up in the tragedy need help. Millions of people are homeless and millions more face potential deadly diseases in the aftermath; the total dead and injured are still uncounted but already number well into the hundreds of thousands. Some villages and small towns have been wiped off the map, especially on some of the more remote islands in the Indian Ocean.
Organizations such as the American Red Cross are taking donations now to be put to the best possible use in the field. We urge you to help if you can and please visit their Web site for more information (or call 1-800-HELP-NOW).
The relief effort already underway is unprecented and shows how the world, when needed, can come together for the betterment of all. We thank you for your compassion in this time of need.
