TNG Writer Zicree Pens New Modern Fantasy Epic
Marc Scott Zicree, the man responsible for Story for the TNG episode "First Contact" and the DS9 episode "Far Beyond the Stars ," has a new novel about to debut from HarperCollins. "Magic Time – Ghostlands" is the final book of the author's Magic Time trilogy, a modern-day fantasy where the machines of today stop working and magic returns.
Zicree isn't just relying on the usual publicity rounds that accompany novels, he's shooting a thirty-second trailer this month which will debut online to coincide with the book's release on December 1. The trailer is being directed by Ian McCaig, who is also the book's cover artist, and who has also designed extensively for the three most recent Star Wars films.
The first book in the trilogy received a rave from Enterprise Co-Creator Brannon Braga. "Magic Time is a great book!" said Braga. "A bold and original science fantasy that, by the end, creates a brand new genre all its own. Epic, believable and very, very cool. When's the movie coming out?"
No telling when the film is due, but the trailer will debut on McCaig's website and be linked to major sites including HarperCollins, Blackstone Audio and Zicree's own site, www.zicree.com.
