While much of fandom's attention was focused on FedCon in Germany,
Star Trek fan favorites Vaughn "
Admiral Forrest"
Armstrong and Casey "
Damar"
Biggs brought their show to the Southwest June 8-10 for some 1,000 fans at Oklahoma City's Biltmore Hotel for SoonerCon 2007. The traditional literary sci-fi convention is growing into a more multi-media format after launching last year with 700 on hand, using the name of the popular OKC "lit con" that ran from 1986-1997, and benefits the March of Dimes.
Along with sharing hijinks and tall tales from their Star Trek days, Armstrong and Biggs performed samples from "Intergalactic Roots Music," the second CD from their larger group, the six-member "Enterprise Blues Band." Other headliner guests with Trek roots included several native Okies: Keith Birdsong, artist guest of honor and one-time Pocket Books Star Trek cover artist; author-editor Larry Nemecek; and Janet Nemecek, former Voyager assistant script coordinator. The Nemeceks are co-writers of the episode "Prophecy."
