STARTREK.COM: Destination Las Vegas

The biggest Star Trek convention of the year, Creation Entertainment's "Official Star Trek Las Vegas Convention" is almost upon us, taking over the Las Vegas Hilton July 29 through August 1, and STARTREK.COM is working with Creation to make this year's event bigger and better than ever. Along with perhaps the year's biggest array of Star Trek actors and creative individuals, this year's convention is jam-packed with new events and presentations.

In the past few weeks, the team here at STARTREK.COM has been working to put together a mixture of documentaries, exclusive interview clips and the first-ever "STARTREK.COM Trivia Challenge" (testing both the fans and the STARTREK.COM experts on their Star Trek trivia knowledge) to add to the already star-packed lineup at this year's convention.

In addition to these onstage events, STARTREK.COM will be publishing a daily recap of the previous day's events so fans just arriving at the event can get an idea as to what has come before. (As ever, we will also be publishing this information online for everyone else in the world who won't be in attendance.)

Among the footage to be shown will be our 20-minute comprehensive documentary "The Borg." Produced exclusively for STARTREK.COM, this will be the first time the documentary will be played before a live audience. This is one of many short documentaries making their live debut, including biographies of Sarek of Vulcan and Harry Mudd, historical and cultural pieces such as "The Ktarian Game," "The Occupation of Bajor" and "Klingon Rites of Ascension" as well as technical pieces like "Landing the Intrepid-Class Starship." On top of all that, exciting, never-before-seen clips and interviews with some of Star Trek's biggest stars and behind-the-scenes talents will also be shown over the weekend.

To add to the excitement, this is the first Star Trek convention to take place in Las Vegas since the opening of Star Trek: The Experience's latest thrilling attraction, "Borg Invasion 4D," making the Las Vegas Hilton an even more appropriate destination for Star Trek fans this summer.

And giving the weekend an even more Star Trek-themed flavor is the addition of the Borg-themed monorail train on the Las Vegas Monorail system, which connects the Hilton with six other Las Vegas destinations. Unlike other trains on the system, the Borg Invasion 4D train was designed by Rezn8 and installed by Final Film, covered from floor to ceiling in bold green-and-black Borg and Star Trek imagery and features chilling Borg voice-over announcements instructing passengers on their journey.

"Paramount Parks and Star Trek: The Experience are proud to present what is surely the most unique and dynamic Las Vegas Monorail train,” said Elizabeth Williams, Vice President, Star Trek: The Experience. "We are confident that our train will increase visibility and awareness of "Borg Invasion 4D" and Star Trek: The Experience.”

There are plenty more surprises in store and only a little over a week to make plans, so make sure you get a good seat for the festivities!
