Kate Mulgrew,
Jonathan Frakes and
Avery Brooks are the headliners at Europe's largest annual
Star Trek event taking place this weekend in Germany. The 16th annual Federation Con, "FedCon XVI," is being held Friday through Sunday in Bonn at the Maritim Hotel.
Other special guests making the transatlantic trek include Armin Shimerman, Garrett Wang, Cirroc Lofton, Robert O'Reilly, J.G. Hertzler and Suzie Plakson. They will be joined by other sci-fi stars such as James Callis from Battlestar Galactica, Jewel Staite from Firefly and Paul McGillion from Stargate: Atlantis.
Most of the Trek stars are on the schedule twice. Frakes will appear on the "Mainbridge" stage immediately after the Opening Ceremony Friday evening, followed by Brooks and Lofton together. Frakes and Brooks (separately) will appear again Sunday morning. Saturday features Wang, Shimerman, O'Reilly, Hertzler and Mulgrew on the main stage. Shimerman, Wang and Mulgrew are up again on Sunday. Prior to the Opening Ceremony on Friday, O'Reilly, Hertzler and Plakson will speak together in the "Holodeck" room. (Scheduling is subject to change.)
Other highlights at FedCon this year include a talk by Richard Arnold, former assistant to Gene Roddenberry, plus several panels by authors and other experts on Star Trek and science fiction-related topics, and a 10-minute sneak peek at the blockbuster film "Transformers," written by "Star Trek XI" scribes Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, which premieres next month. And of course, autographs, games, costume events, parties and lots more! The convention will be emceed by Marc B. Lee of Florida. And yes, English will be the dominant language on stage.
For complete information visit the FedCon website (this link goes to the English-language site; click on the German flag icon if you want to see it auf Deutsch).
