Echevarria Returns to Paramount Former Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Writer-Producer Rene Echevarria has signed a two-year deal with Paramount Network Television. Echevarria will join the team behind the midseason NBC drama Medium, as well as developing other projects for the studio as an Executive Producer alongside Glenn Gordon Caron, Steve Stark and another Star Trek alum, Frasier's Kelsey Grammer (Captain Morgan Bateson in the TNG episode "Cause and Effect").
Echevarria began his career with Star Trek by writing a TNG spec script which got produced, "The Offspring." He then became a Story Editor and then worked his way up the ranks, eventually becoming a Co-Supervising Producer for DS9. He also developed, with Ken Biller, the scenario for the first attraction at Star Trek: The Experience in Las Vegas, now known as Klingon Encounter.

The Writer-Director has signed on as a Co-Executive Producer on the series North Shore for Fox, as well as a development deal with 20th Century Fox Television. Along with assuming some writing and directing chores on North Shore, he'll also develop a new drama for Fox. After Voyager, Biller moved on to gain credits on The X-Files, Dark Angel and more recently Smallville, where he also served as a Co-Executive Producer.
