Showbiz Roundup: New Fall Shows, Murphy, Stewart, Picardo

New Fall Shows Featuring Star Trek Actors
The networks are announcing their Fall lineups, and a number of Star Trek actors will be dotting the television landscape in the next season. Leading off the list of Trek alums is William Shatner ("James T. Kirk"), who will be headlining the new David E. Kelley drama The Practice: Fleet Street on ABC, playing the senior partner in the titular law firm. Also hitting the small screen come fall will be Rick Worthy (the Xindi-Arboreal council member this season on Enterprise) in another ABC drama called Eyes, and Mark Moses, who played Henry Archer (Jonathan Archer's father) in a flashback in "Broken Bow," will be seen in Desperate Housewives also for ABC.

As the networks make their announcements in the days to come, there are sure to be more Star Trek alumni on new shows; look for more information here as it becomes available.

"Insurrection's" Donna Murphy Nabs Drama Desk Award
Congratulations to Donna Murphy (Anij in "Star Trek: Insurrection") for her Drama Desk Award win on Sunday. The actress picked up the award in the category of Outstanding Actress in a Musical for her performance in "Wonderful Town." Murphy is also nominated for a Tony Award for "Wonderful Town."

Rave Reviews for Stewart in Showtime's "Lion in Winter"
The Hollywood trade papers heaped substantial praise upon "The Lion in Winter," a made-for-cable movie starring Patrick Stewart ("Jean-Luc Picard") as King Henry II, airing on Showtime this Sunday. Daily Variety notes that Stewart "cuts a fine figure as the bellowing Henry," and The Hollywood Reporter sees "Emmy potential" in the movie. "Henry feels the exuberance of absolute authority and the bitter loneliness of realizing that, his power notwithstanding, there is no worthy successor to lead the vast empire he assembled," the paper's reviewer states. "The part requires an enormous emotional range but nothing, it seems, that Stewart can't handle." Glenn Close co-stars as Eleanor of Aquitaine, the king's rebellious wife. Again, that's Sunday night on Showtime; check your local listings for airtimes.

Picardo Announcement
In a previous Showbiz Roundup, an announcement was promised regarding Robert Picardo (Star Trek: Voyager's The Doctor), and here it is: Picardo has a future event scheduled with Slanted Fedora Productions, this August in New York City.
