UPDATE: Enterprise has been renewed for a fourth season! Details here. Several news sources, including the TVGuide.com Web site, Variety and Hollywood Reporter, have reported that Star Trek: Enterprise has been renewed for a fourth season. Despite these positive reports, the official word on the fate of the show still rests in the hands of UPN when they make their official announcement tomorrow morning (May 20) in New York at the yearly "upfronts." The purpose of the upfronts is to announce the fall schedules for each network, followed by solicitations for advertising based on those lineups. The nets can then plan their budgets for the upcoming season based on the money received "upfront" before the shows actually air.
Enterprise has been continually reported as being "on the cusp" and was not guaranteed a renewal by UPN for the fall 2004 lineup. The show has struggled ratings-wise amidst the competition on Wednesday nights, prompting further reports that the show may be moved to another night, perhaps Friday.
STARTREK.COM will announce the official UPN fall schedule tomorrow morning by 9:00 a.m. PDT. Until that time, please note that nothing is confirmed.
