Shatner Set for Primetime Return William Shatner ("James T. Kirk") is set to join the cast of Producer David E. Kelley's spin-off of The Practice next season, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Shatner has been seen lately on The Practice as lawyer Denny Crane, hired by James Spader's character in a lawsuit against his former coworkers in the law firm of the show's name.
As Kelley's legal drama brings it's eight-year run to a close, Spader's character Alan Shore will transition from The Practice to the new series in the last few episodes of the season. Shatner is reportedly set to join Fay Masterson and Lake Bell on the new series, as yet untitled.
Fuller's Wonderfalls Gets New Timeslot
Star Trek: Voyager writer Bryan Fuller's critically acclaimed new series Wonderfalls has moved to Thursday nights where it hopes to maintain and build on its already-growing loyal following. Created by Fuller and Todd Holland, the series tells the story of Jaye Tyler (Caroline Dhavernas), whose life changes when inanimate objects begin speaking to her and leading her into fascinating and compelling situations.
In a letter to fans, Dhavernas says, "This past year, the lives of the Wonderfalls producers, writers, cast and crew have been dedicated to the making of this series…. As you know, we inherited a very tricky time slot that doesn't give us much of a chance to be noticed by a large crowd. However, our faithful viewers seem to be in love, like I am, with Wonderfalls, and understand how witty, different, intelligent, fun and absurd the lives of these characters are, thanks to our brilliant writers."
Called "A welcome entry into Surreality Television" by the Washington Post and "written with wit" by the New York Times, Wonderfalls airs on Thursday nights on Fox. Fuller also serves as Co-Executive Producer on the series, along with Holland and Tim Minear.
