Creation Entertainment is gearing up for this weekend's 12th Annual Grand Slam: The Sci-Fi Summit convention in Pasadena, California. One of the longest-running annual events of its kind, the Grand Slam originated as a
Star Trek-only convention, and has evolved to also feature actors and personalities from other franchises and films. This year will feature appearances from stars from all incarnations of
Star Trek, from the
Original Series through
Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, the movies and
Star Trek: Enterprise.
Star Trek highlights include appearances by TOS stars William Shatner ("James T. Kirk"), Leonard Nimoy ("Spock") and Walter Koenig ("Pavel Chekov"), TNG stars Brent Spiner ("Data") and Wil Wheaton ("Wesley Crusher"), DS9 stars Armin Shimerman ("Quark"), Cirroc Lofton ("Jake Sisko"), Nicole deBoer ("Ezri Dax"), Max Grodenchik ("Rom") and Andrew J. Robinson ("Garak"), Voyager stars Robert Picardo ("The Doctor") and Ethan Phillips ("Neelix"), plus Enterprise stars Connor Trinneer ("Trip Tucker"), Dominic Keating ("Malcolm Reed") and Anthony Montgomery ("Travis Mayweather").
Along with series stars, there will be some memorable guest-stars appearing, such as Louise Fletcher (DS9's Kai Winn Adami), John Rhys-Davies (Voyager's Leonardo Da Vinci) and Sally Kellerman (Dr. Elizabeth Dehner in the classic TOS episode "Where No Man Has Gone Before").
The convention will also feature a special presentation relating to the upcoming film "Hellboy," featuring its star Ron Perlman, who appeared as the ominous Reman Viceroy in "Star Trek Nemesis."
Also at the convention, due to Pasadena's proximity to Hollywood, will be probably the biggest autograph room at any convention, with over three dozen guest-stars and sci-fi celebrities attending at various points over the convention.
The convention takes place this weekend at the Pasadena Convention Center, from Friday through Sunday. For more information, tickets and a convention schedule, visit Creation Entertainment at their Web site below.
STARTREK.COM will be reporting from the convention, so keep an eye out for our first-hand accounts.
