Voyager's "Leonardo" Advises Planetary Society, Snags SAG Honor

Actor John Rhys-Davies (the holographic Leonardo da Vinci in multiple Voyager episodes) has joined The Planetary Society's Advisory Council, joining another Voyager holographic thespian, Robert Picardo ("The Doctor"). The English-born actor has an interest in astronomy and space exploration, and quipped upon accepting the position "If you wish to see further than most, it is wise to stand on the shoulders of dwarves," a reference mixing a famous quote from Isaac Newton (about standing on the shoulders of giants) and his own portrayal of the dwarf Gimli in the Lord of the Rings films. He recently won a SAG Ensemble honor at their recent awards ceremony for his role in the Tolkien epic.
