STARTREK.COM recently submitted questions to the developers of the new Las Vegas-based "Borg Invasion 4D." Below is a transcript of the second part of our Q&A session with Ty Granoroli, Director of "Borg Invasion 4D." Question: Can you give us a brief synopsis of the chain of events when you visit this attraction?
Ty Granoroli: Guests will literally experience what it's like to be assimilated by the Borg, the most menacing enemies in the Star Trek Universe. As visitors tour a futuristic research facility, the terrifying drones of the Borg Collective attempt to capture and assimilate guests using 24th century cybernetic technology. 3D and 4D will merge in chilling realization as the action culminates in a state-of-the-art theater providing an all-immersive tactile experience for visitors to the attraction.
Q: We know the attraction may not be appropriate for youngsters. Is there anyone else that shouldn't attend?
TG: "Borg Invasion 4D" is not recommended for young children.
Q: Who wrote/directed/scored the filmed footage?
TG: Written by: Lisa Klink
Directed by: Ty Granoroli
Music by: Dennis McCarthy
Q: Can you tell us who stars in "Borg Invasion 4D"?
TG: "Borg Invasion 4D" is an original 3D film starring: Alice Krige (Borg Queen), Robert Picardo (The Doctor), Kate Mulgrew (Admiral Janeway) and Jade Carter (Lt. Elkins).
Q: Can you please explain the technical stuff, i.e. the Steadicam, stereoshot, 3D etc...! How does that work in real life?
TG: "Borg Invasion 4D" is the first all-digital production that incorporates live action and animation, as well as the first multiple-angle immersive 3D attraction ever. Multiple-angle means there will be 3-D effects from the front, overhead and both right and left sides of the participant; creating a darker and edgier environment. The onscreen presentation of BI4D is two times clearer than any other digital projection system in the world adding to the immersive feeling the guest will experience.
Q: We see, hear, feel ... but do we taste or smell anything?
TG: "Borg Invasion 4D" will not utilize taste or smell, but it will fully immerse guests in a chilling experience that will keep thrill seekers hungry for more.
Q: How many fans a day can go through the attraction?
TG: We can't disclose specific numbers, but "Borg Invasion 4D" has 48 seats, and the full experience lasts approximately 22 minutes.
