Oscar and Emmy award-winning makeup artist
Michael Westmore will continue populating the
Star Trek universe with exotic aliens, as he has signed on to head the makeup department of the next series. Westmore recently wrapped on
Star Trek: Voyager as Makeup Supervisor.
Westmore and his makeup team have won two Emmy awards for Star Trek, for the Deep Space Nine episode "Distant Voices," and for Voyager's "Threshold." They have been nominated a total of seven times. Westmore also garnered an Academy Award nomination for his Borg makeup in "Star Trek: First Contact," along with Scott Wheeler and Jake Garber. Westmore won an Oscar in 1986 for "Mask."
Westmore has supervised makeup for every season of every Star Trek TV series since the beginning of Star Trek: The Next Generation in 1986, along with each TNG movie. He is co-author of "Star Trek: Aliens and Artifacts."
