Murphy Hangs with Spidey Donna Murphy ("Anij") can be seen in two upcoming films: Summer '04's "Spider-Man II" with fellow Trek alum Kirsten Dunst ("Hedril") and "Door in the Floor" with Kim Basinger and Jeff Bridges. As previously reported, Murphy is also starring in the musical comedy "Wonderful Town," opening November 23 on Broadway at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. Previews begin November 5.
Nimoy's Shekhina
Leonard Nimoy ("Spock") has attracted quite a bit of notice for his monograph "Shekhina," which explores spirituality through photographic study of the female form. Now, gallery-goers can appreciate "Shekhina" even further: "Shekhina: Photographs by Leonard Nimoy" is set to run December 6 – January 24 at the Copro/Nason Gallery in Culver City, CA. The exhibit opens December 6 with an artist's reception from 8 to 11 p.m. The following Saturday, December 13, Nimoy will be on hand for a book signing and a presentation on how "Shekhina" has influenced his life and work. This even will take place from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The Copro/Nason Gallery is located at 11265 Washington Blvd. in Culver City.
McNeill Directs "Dead"
Robert Duncan McNeill ("Tom Paris") is certainly keeping busy these days — he directed next week's installment of Star Trek: Enterprise ("Twilight") and is also slated to direct at least two more episodes of Showtime's Dead Like Me and an hour of The WB's One Tree Hill, according to his official Web site. McNeill's Dead assignments include episodes 2 and 13 of season 2 with a third episode pending.
Janssen "Hides" with De Niro
Famke Janssen ("Kamala") is slated to star with Robert De Niro and Dakota Fanning (the young actress from Sci-Fi Channel's Taken miniseries) in the 20th Century Fox thriller "Hide and Seek," according to Variety. The film is directed by John Polson from a script by Ari Schlossberg. The story focuses on a young girl (Fanning) who loses her mother and finds an unusual and frightening way to cope. "Hide and Seek" is currently filming in New York.
Shawn's "Fever"
Wallace Shawn ("Grand Nagus Zek") has adapted his play "The Fever" for HBO Films. According to Variety, the production stars Vanessa Redgrave and Joely Richardson and is being directed by Carlo Nero. "Bowling for Columbine" director Michael Moore is also featured in a rare acting role. The film concerns a middle-class woman who undergoes a political awakening. The Blumhouse/Shawn Fever production is currently in post-production.
Sensor Sweep
Daniel Roebuck (a Romulan in "Unification") can be seen as "Pete Petersen" in the new Fox sitcom "A Minute with Stan Hooper." Roebuck plays one of the quirky characters who populate the small Wisconsin town that becomes home to the series' titular character (Norm MacDonald). The series airs Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. On the big screen, watch for the Butterfly Twins (as featured in "Broken Bow"), Elaine and Diane Klimaszewski, who appear in "Scary Movie 3." Also, Trek movie director Nicholas Meyer's "The Human Stain" opens on Friday. Meyer adapted the screenplay from Philip Roth's novel.
