Star Trek alum Julie Parrish passed away last Wednesday. Her brother, James Wilbar, told the Associated Press that Parrish suffered from ovarian cancer. She was 62.
Classic Trek fans will remember Parrish as "Miss Piper," aide to Commodore Mendez in the two-part episode "The Menagerie."
Parrish was born Ruby Joyce Wilbar, but changed her name for her second film, "The Nutty Professor." Parrish went on to become a staple of '60s television, appearing on such classic shows as Gunsmoke, My Three Sons and Family Affair. She also starred in the 1967 sitcom Good Morning World as Linda and shared the big screen with Elvis Presley ("Paradise Hawaiian Style") and Jerry Lewis ("It's Only Money"). More recently, Parrish had a recurring role on Beverly Hills 90210. She also had several theatre credits to her name and received a Los Angeles Drama Critics Award for her portrayal of Maggie in Arthur Miller's "After the Fall."
On behalf of the Star Trek community, we extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of Julie Parrish.
