The new J.J. Abrams-directed "Star Trek" film has been shooting at the Long Beach City Hall, as reported by Tim Grobaty in the local Press-Telegram. In keeping with the strict confidentiality surrounding the movie's production, Grobaty was hard pressed to get anyone official to comment on the shoot, evoking only one-syllable responses from local authorities.

According to the article one Long Beach Police Department officer at the shooting location said, "It's some kind of space thing."

Coincidentally, Long Beach is also the site of the new STAR TREK THE TOUR, scheduled to open in January 2008.
