Billingsley, Trinneer, Keating, Wang in Celebrity Golf Tournament
Stars from Enterprise and Voyager will be teeing up alongside fans at a charity golf tournament in Glendale, Calif., on Saturday, October 6. John Billingsley, Dominic Keating, Connor Trinneer and Garrett Wang are all confirmed, along with stars from other genre shows including Garret Maggart (The Sentinel), Claudia Christian (Babylon 5), and Spencer Garrett (I-Man). Globetrotting Trek convention host Marc B. Lee will serve as the Master of Ceremonies.
The non-profit group Fans for Life is the organizer of the "Area 18 Golf Tournament," which will benefit the AIDS Service Center (ASC) of Pasadena and other selected charities. Foursomes consisting of one celebrity and three fans will play 18 holes in a scramble format. Tee times will start at 8 a.m. at the Scholl Canyon Golf Club in Glendale. Driving range time and lunch will be included, and a spectator's gallery will be available at selected locations on the course. An awards banquet and auction will be held in the evening, where fans will be able to visit with a celebrity at their dinner table and bid on items in a live auction.
Billingsley, who serves on the ASC Board, said he's looking forward to participating "because the money goes to a terrific organization and it's a wonderful opportunity to publicly humiliate myself."
Tournament packages, ranging from $83 to $342, go on sale August 1. Visit www.fans-for-life.org for info and to sign up for the mailing list.

Shatner, MacFarlane in Montreal for Comedy Fest
In case you haven't had your fill of Shatner news this week, the Bill will serve as host of two gala events this Saturday at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in his hometown of Montreal, Quebec. The "William Shatner Gala" of stand-up comedians will take place at the St. Denis Theatre at 7:00 and again at 10:00 on July 21.
Opposite Shatner at both times at another theater, Star Trek: Enterprise guest star Seth MacFarlane will bring "Family Guy Live" to the festival, with a live reading and Q&A session with other cast members from the animated comedy including Seth Green. For more information about both events, visit this HaHaHa.com link. Shatner talks about the festival in a video posted on ShatnerVision.com.
While we're referring you to ShatnerVision, if you haven't seen it already a video is posted there which has buzzed around the Web in which Shatner seems to reveal something about the new J.J. Abrams-directed "Star Trek" movie. He insinuated to a radio station that Leonard Nimoy has been cast in the film. He says he had spoken to Nimoy on the phone and learned he had read the script. "I said, 'Is it a good script?' He says, 'Yeah!' I said, 'Am I in it?' ... There was a pause. He said, 'No,'" Shatner stated. "And then he began to laugh. I went through the phone and grabbed him by the throat. He's in it and I'm not in it!" The radio host asked why, being friends, that Nimoy would do the film without him. "Because we're not that good friends!" Shatner joked. "I mean, the man needs the money." Unfortunately he didn't stay on subject long enough to get more in depth. We'll see if the announcements at Comic-Con next week bear out any of these statements, which could have been made strictly tongue-in-cheek.
Articles of Interest: Remastered, "Hidden Frontier"
An article at Digital Media Net provides a look at how the production process of the Star Trek Remastered project is organized. Toni Pace of CBS Digital details how a robust and flexible database created in FileMaker Pro has allowed the 30-member production team to keep track of "enormous volumes of detailed information" in a fast-paced TV environment. "We've created more than 1,800 shots to date for the series — a huge amount considering that the average 'big' movie uses, on average, 400 shots," Pace states. See the article at this DigitalMediaNet.com link.
The fan production "Star Trek: Hidden Frontier" was the subject of a recent front-page feature in the Los Angeles Times (with a picture of Klingons and Starfleet officers placed amidst the day's political headlines). The article profiles "Hidden" creator Rob Caves, who produces the series out of his South Pasadena home, and gives a taste of the behind-the-scenes production, particularly the final episode which features a gay wedding scene shot at an Orange County arboretum. "Hidden Frontier" wrapped in April after seven years, and Caves will begin production on a new fan-film series this fall called "Star Trek: Odyssey." Showbiz Briefs: Campbell, Woodard, Grammer, d'Abo
Billy Campbell ("Thadiun Okona") has been cast in an ABC Family original movie tentatively titled "The Circuit," starring as a fading stock car racer. His co-star is Michelle Trachtenberg of Buffy fame. The two-hour cable film is set to air sometime in 2008. The trade reports did not specify when production would star, but this job could explain why Campbell has dropped out of his Comic-Con schedule to promote The 4400 next weekend. Jeffrey Combs, a guest star on 4400, is replacing Campbell on panels alongside former DS9 producer Ira Steven Behr (related story).
Alfre Woodard ("Lily Sloane") stars in a Hallmark Hall of Fame TV film called "Pictures of Hollis Woods," which will air on CBS tentatively in November. Woodard plays a social worker for a 12-year-old who has been bouncing around the foster-care system all her life.
Kelsey Grammer ("Captain Bateson") will be in Albuquerque, New Mexico, next week to co-star in "Swing Vote," a comedy produced by Kevin Costner about a presidential election that comes down to one vote. Grammer plays the Republican incumbent, with Dennis Hopper as the Democratic challenger. Theatrical release is appropriately targeted for 2008.
The upcoming episode of Eureka introduces Olivia d'Abo ("Amanda Rogers") as the ex-wife of Sheriff Jack Carter, named "Abby." The episode titled "Unpredictable" airs Tuesday, July 24, on the Sci-Fi Channel.
