Blalock Signs On to Vegas Convention
Jolene Blalock ("T'Pol") is set to join Star Trek: Enterprise castmate Connor Trinneer along with an extensive lineup of Trek stars from all five series at Creation Entertainment's fifth annual Official Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas this August.
The 40th anniversary celebration at the Vegas Hilton — taking place Thursday through Sunday, Aug. 17-20 — will be headlined by William Shatner, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew and Jonathan Frakes. The roster includes many familiar faces and some not-so-familiar ones. Diana Muldaur ("Dr. Pulaski," "Dr. Miranda Jones," "Dr. Ann Mulhall") returns to the convention scene after several years' absence. Robert Foxworth ("V'Las," "Admiral Leyton" and the titular android in Gene Roddenberry's "The Questor Tapes") makes his first appearance at a Creation convention, along with Andrea Martin (the first actress to play "Ishka").
To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Original Series, producer Robert Justman will speak about his experiences on that groundbreaking series. Other unique guests include "The Trek Life" cartoonist David Reddick, author Robert T. Jeschonek and scientists Ronald Held and David A. Williams. Visit www.creationent.com for complete info (click on "Upcoming Events," then find "Las Vegas, NV").
Reminder: Shatner's Horse Show next Saturday
As previously mentioned here, William Shatner's 16th annual Hollywood Charity Horse Show takes place next Saturday, April 29, at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center in Burbank. Country music star Lyle Lovett is the special guest, entertaining during the evening dinner. The arena show — with a reining competition and a performance from stunt rider Tommie Turvey — and silent auction start at 5:30, and the western dinner party is at 7:00. Tickets are $25 for the arena show only, and $250 for the entire event. Proceeds will benefit disabled children through AHEAD with Horses, and underprivileged children through Camp Max Straus. If you can't attend, any tax-deductible donations you can make for Shatner's charities will be greatly appreciated by the captain.

Sensor Sweep: DeBoer, Goldberg, Warren, Krige
The show business trade papers Daily Variety and The Hollywood Reporter have reported a number of items this week regarding the women of Star Trek. Nicole deBoer ("Ezri Dax") has been cast in a made-for-cable movie called "Ties That Bind," which will air on Lifetime, according to THR.
Also, Whoopi Goldberg ("Guinan") will host a special screening of films by young local directors in New York. The program, called "Our City, My Story," will be part of the Tribeca Film Festival, and will take place on April 29th at the AMC Loews 34th Street.
Diane Warren, who composed the Star Trek: Enterprise theme song "Where My Heart Will Take Me," will be honored by the organization Women in Film at the 2006 Crystal+Lucy Awards. The ceremony will take place June 6 at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles.
And if you go out to the movies this weekend, watch for Alice Krige (the first and last "Borg Queen") in the horror movie "Silent Hill." She plays a character named Christabella, who leads the people of the ghoulish titular town with fanatical religiosity, according to Variety.
