Update: A few episodes of Deep Space Nine and Voyager are now available at the Google Video Store. When you visit video.google.com, click on the pull-down menu "Browse videos for sale" and select the desired title. The price of each download is $1.99. More episodes are expected to be added over time. (Paid downloads are not yet available for Mac.)
Episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager will soon be offered online through the new Google Video Store.
On Friday at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Google co-founder Larry Page announced the planned opening of the Google Video Store, a marketplace where online users can buy and rent a wide range of video content. Among that content will be a number of CBS properties, which include the Star Trek TV series.
With the recent corporate split between Viacom and CBS, the latter company has taken control of all of Paramount's television properties, including the Star Trek franchise. Other shows that will be offered through the Google-CBS arrangement include I Love Lucy, The Brady Bunch, The Twilight Zone, CSI, and others.
The Google Video homepage is located at video.google.com, though the site is still in a preliminary stage. Soon, users will be able to browse listings of video by category from the store, or search Google's collection of videos by searching with keywords.
