UPDATE: Charles Rocket, "Jippeq" in "The Disease," Found Dead

UPDATE: A memorial service for Charles Rocket will be held on November 18 in New York at the Angel Orensanz Foundation Center for the Arts, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Charles Rocket — who played "Jippeq," the commander of the Varro generational ship in Star Trek: Voyager's "The Disease" — has died from an apparent self-inflicted wound, according to news reports.

Rocket, 56, was found in a field near his home in Canterbury, Connecticut, on October 7 with his throat cut. The state medical examiner ruled the death a suicide, and a police investigation determined no criminal activity was involved.

Rocket — whose real name was Charles Claverie — was most famous for his one-year stint on NBC's Saturday Night Live in 1980-81. He gained notoriety from uttering a profanity on live TV, and was subsequently fired.

The actor/comedian went on to appear in numerous TV shows, including Quantum Leap, Max Headroom and Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. He also lent his voice to many animated shows, such as Batman: Gotham Knights, and video games, such as "Star Wars: Starfighter." His movie credits included "Dances with Wolves," "Dumb & Dumber" and the animated "Titan A.E."
