The fall brings leaves, school, baseball playoffs and Halloween among other things. But one of the most anticipated annual rituals is that of the new season of TV shows, for both the old and the returning shows. Scanning the horizon of upcoming TV, we've found that several
Star Trek actors are scheduled to make appearances on some new, and old, television shows.
Jeri Ryan ("Seven of Nine") is slated to be a recurring character on Fox's The O.C. Jeri will be playing "Charlotte Morgan," beginning with tonight's season premiere.
Jolene Blalock ("T'Pol") will be seen in the second episode of ABC's Lost on September 28.
This isn't TV news as such, but Alexander Siddig ("Dr. Julian Bashir") will be seen in the upcoming movie "Syriana" scheduled for later this year. Sid is currently filming "The Last Legion" in Tunisia, alongside Colin Firth, Ben Kingsley, and Aishwarya Rai, according to his Web site.
Nana Visitor ("Kira Nerys") will return as "Jean Ritter" on Wildfire, the latest Michael Piller show for the ABC Family channel.
Brent Spiner ("Data") will be playing Nigel Fenway in the new CBS show Threshold, which also features the writing and producing talents of Brannon Braga and Mike Sussman from Star Trek: Enterprise.
Robert Picardo ("The Doctor") makes an appearance on Stargate SG-1 scheduled for September 16.
Chris Doohan, son of the late James Doohan, will be making an appearance on Breaking Bonaduce, a new VH1 reality show based around former Partridge Family bass player and radio personality Danny Bonaduce, beginning September 11. Chris and his band, the Muddflaps, can be seen periodically throughout the show. Bonaduce's wife, Gretchen, is a member of the band. (The Muddflaps performed at the James Doohan tribute convention last August in Hollywood.)
And finally ...
The Emmy Awards may never be the same (i.e., the bar will have been substantially raised) when William Shatner sings a duet with opera star Frederica von Stade as they perform a special rendition of the Star Trek theme. It's all in good fun, of course, as Shatner and other stars take part in a mock American Idol-style sing-off that will also feature Megan Mullally of Will & Grace fame, and Kristen Bell from UPN's Veronica Mars. One last thing: Fans will be able to text their votes for favorite performance.
The Primetime Emmys will air Sunday, September 18, on CBS. Please check your local listings.
